Applications are invited for the position of VAS Engineer(Operations & Maintenance) – that has arisen within the NETWORKS Department.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain the Value Added Services Platforms (IN/USD, SMSC, Voice Mail System, Call Center, CRBT, OTAPS, etc) and any other broadband services.
• Administer VAS systems and applications.
• Administer and provision subscribers.
• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance programs on the VAS network.
• Analyses alarms and log details to establish fault trends and develop preventative measures.
• Analysis and report generation of traffic measurements
• Configure connections between any other and all VAS network from work schedules.
• Configure VAS systems and applications.
• Carry out fault diagnostics and analysis of the signaling (SS7) between the VAS nodes and other nodes and other faults on the VAS network.
• Update and Maintain (Using sql and hia commands) the VAS databases on a regular basis.
• Perform backup of the VAS databases regularly.
• Maintain and update records, system drawings, station files, and route schematics of the VAS network.
• Design and develop software applications and macros (in Visual Basic, Reflection Basic, Ms SQL, Access and Excel) to automate some VAS functions such as traffic measurements analysis and reports generation.
• Perform analysis of network problems.
• Assist the planning section in the installation, testing and commissioning of the VAS system.
• Perform acceptance tests of VAS systems.
Assist the call center (Customer care), marketing department and distribution department in handling customer queries
Suitable applicants are expected to have the following qualifications and competencies
• A university degree in Electrical/Electronic/Telecommunications/Computer Engineering or Higher Diploma or above in Telecommunication / Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification, with at least 8 years working experience in telecommunications, 4 of which should have been in Radio & Transmission.
• Post graduate qualification/training will be an added advantage
• Knowledge of mobile GSM system and communication protocols such as C7,TCP/IP
• Good negotiating and Communication skills
• Sound computer knowledge
• Sound knowledge of project management and utilization of relevant software tools
